Glasses direct

Just a 'heads up' for anyone thinking of using Glasses Direct. Bought a pair of glasses 7 weeks ago, paid for them, since then...nothing no glasses, no answer on the phone, no reply to emails, nothing. I would advise you to avoid. On one review site they score 4.5 but on another review site they score 2.3 which leads me to believe that someone is 'loading the dice' so that they appear more legit than they actually are; forcing genuine reviews to be posted elsewhere. If they were the last glasses company on earth I'd rather buy a white stick! Seriously....AVOID!

That's very odd and I'm sorry to hear you've had such a rubbish service from them. My experience was absolutely fine; even though I ordered my glasses as the height of the pandemic (my others were falling apart) they arrived within a couple of weeks and they kept me updated the whole way. The main downside is not having them adjusted by someone who knows what they're doing - I've had to tweak them myself which took a week or so to get them feeling right, but for what I paid I absolutely cannot complain.

I have no idea how you can go about getting what you ordered. What e-mail address(es) have you tried? I have one from which they asked about my prescription so I could PM it to if it's not one you've already tried, to ask if they even have your order.

Recently, we have been making extra efforts due to Covid-19 – such as following distancing measures and a thorough disinfecting routine - as well as dealing with a higher-than-usual demand. We also moved to a new customer service platform on 1st June which, unfortunately, has had some teething issues that have since been mostly resolved. As a result of all this, we have not been able to answer some emails and phone calls as quickly as we would have liked to in the last couple of weeks.
We are very sorry and are working hard to get back to our usual high standard of timeliness and availability. Please bear with us.

I then sheramber has just cut and pasted that info from GD's website. I don't think she works for them!
  • AVOID: Glass direct are not worth the hassle- I used a 2 for £14 deal which ended up being £43 as I wanted anti glare on one pair ( to wear over lenses for driving only). I was emailed immediately  saying I needed to ring them as my prescription was very high meaning very thick lenses. I emailed and rang the next day to ask to delete this prescription as thinner lenses would bump up the price significantly, and I would like both pairs for driving ( low prescription). I was asked to send in a photo of my prescription. 10 days later I rang to chase up- my email had gone to junk mail, but now it had been located the glasses could be made. Within  10 minutes I had a phone call saying they could no longer fulfil the order as they ‘couldn’t make glasses to wear over lenses’. I queried why but the lady on the phone just kept repeating the same thing. I can see no difference in glasses to wear over lenses to those to wear over my eyes! What made me crosser was that when I initially rang up I told them the glasses were to wear over lenses!! I was given a refund but what a palaver which was dragged on over 2 weeks.
