Rent and buying

Hi all,

We stay in Scotland and will be moving into a flat we have bought in September. We usually pay our rent on the 2nd of each month but only actually need the rented flat for a few days after that.

Other than pay a full months rent for a few days do we have any other options? No family close by to stay with.

Thanks for that, so the specific day is completely up to us. It doesn’t cover rent though. I’d expect I’ll need to pay something for the extra days?

What's the start date of your tenancy?
What's it say about the notice period?

I only had to give 28 days notice as the original tenancy had expired and was on a rolling tenancy, so while I ended up paying a month's rent, it made it a lot easier to move everything from the rental to my home and clean the rental before handing the keys over.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.

Doesn't your tenancy agreement say anything about it? Not sure whether there is any statutory rule about it, but some of the "standard" forms of tenancy say the rent is apportioned on a daily basis (which is how I'd do it anyway). Is it a Private Residential Tenancy you have rather than a Short Assured Tenancy or something else?
