Egg payment question..

Just got my Egg card and about to do a balance transfer, BUT.. when i signed up for it asked for bank details for direct debit, what is the standard DD monthly payment? is it the full amount or 2% ?

I believe its the minimum payment of 2%.

Should show you on the online page, ie "you are currently paying the minimum amount" (or words to that effect).

I have never modified my DD and the first 2% payment was taken recently.

However, if in doubt (and I was last month) just ring them and ask to put your mind at ease - 08451 233 233

nice one, there is an option to change the amount but i'm a bit of a fud and would forget. Just didn't fancy paying 4k off in one go

Forgot to say, carry out each stage SLOWLY and concentrate on what you are doing.

Why? - because they "sneakily" have the YES, I WANT TO PROTECT MY PAYMENTS box ticked as the default!

It's at the bottom of the last page somewhere near the "submit" button and could be easily missed, especially if you're rushing or are doing 2 or 3 BT's and start to get complacent.

Make sure you untick this (if you don't want it).

i did actually leave it ticked as it was only £20 for 15 months, then got £15 of it back by downloading the money manager so 15 months payment protection for a fiver isn't too bad.
Managed to find the payment changer, once you do a transfer you can change it, before the transfer there's no details in that section.

Can I be nosey? Are you saying you've BT'd £4K debt to your Egg card?

I'm no expert on PPI (stoozing so don't need it), but at around £0.79/£100, isn't this going to cost you £31.60 a MONTH?

If I've misunderstood you I'm sorry - just concerned you don't make a mistake thats all. ;)

It said it was £20 for 12 months protection with 3 months free so you get 15 months protection for £20.Well i hope it did.....................

actually, might have been card protector (theft and fraud) not payment protector. Think i told them to sling the payment protector when i applied.. (i'm blaming hayfever for any mistakes today)

Ah, that sounds more like a "card protection" premium. ie, in case you lose your cards etc.

I've done 3 or 4 SBT's recently but none for a couple of weeks now - can't remember if there were two options (ie card protection and PPI). I suspect if there are, they'll both be ticked as the default though.

    Good luck!

So did I but they still offered it as the default on ALL the BT's I've done.

If I were you I would ring them straight away and tell them you've realised you may have "inadvertantly" left a check box ticked (and by the way aren't they a little easy to miss ;)). Could they please have a look and remove it BEFORE YOUR BT IS PROCESSED TOMORROW.

Don't want to alarm you, but if you really don't need it you could save yourself nearly £200 over the next 6 months!!!!
