Levi’s won’t refund gift voucher after I returned items bought.

  • I need advice re a Levi’s voucher. I was awarded a £110 gift voucher from Levi’s due to a pair of jeans I had bought being faulty. I ordered a number of items from their website which came to £400 above the price of the voucher as I wanted to try a few different sizes. I only want to keep a few things and want to exchange a few items for different sizes. However Levi’s are telling me that the voucher is split across all items and is non refundable. It sounds like I’m going to lose the voucher and money when I return the items. Can anyone advise???

Interesting logic they are trying to apply!

Is your overall final purchase after returns going to be more than £110? Was there a condition attached to the voucher (Like only valid after a minimum spend?). If you've covered those conditons then I can't see that you would be covered. Are there any detailed Terms and conditions that were on the voucher?
  • They just emailed me a code as the original pair of jeans I had purchased were faulty. No T&Cs attached. The overall purchase will be over £110 as I am asking for a new size in one of the items I purchased yes.

Is the issue here going to something along the lines of
    Initial Purchase £510
You are returning a range of items thus effectively making the initial purchase £50
You are then going to make some additional purchases taking your overall spend to £150
From your perspective you've ended up spending in excess of £110, but I can see that Levis may view that differently.
It would be simpler if your initial purchase excluding any exchanges were to be over £110, as that makes it much more clear cut and easier to argue that you've just spent the entirety of the voucher.

    Another thought...

Can they refund onto a Levi's specific giftcard / credit.
I don't know if there is a relationship between stores / online, but is it possible to return and exchange in store

Normally any refund due is given in vouchers up to the value of the vouchers first and it's the cash they keep.

I am a bit confused as to what you are saying, If you spend in total £250 then I would assume your refund due would be the £110 voucher and £150 in cash, that's how most would do it.

Wouldn't it just be easier to return everything and be put back in the same position as you were before you bought the goods and start again.

Did you receive  a voucher for a specific amount or did you receive a voucher for £110 off your next order?

Is the voucher actually a refund or a goodwill gesture on top of a refund?  I would suggest that a refund they're on shaky ground, but goodwill they can probably choose the rules.

That's the way to do it.

This scenario crops up frequently here.
