Are townhouses harder to sell? If so, why is that?

Very love/hate.  My husband loves them and would probably pay a premium.  I am scared of falling on stairs (longstanding fear) and so would never choose to buy one.  That said I kept an open mind and was willing to at least look at the listings during our recent house search, but they all seemed to have very small gardens so ruled out on that basis too.

My brother lives in a small townhouse - the bedrooms are very small. Am looking online and not keen on them.
Aesthetically  I really dislike the boxy frontage - often looks almost industrial. You may get quite  a bit of internal space but they lack "heart" to me . The layout can be unsettling, if you're used to more traditional houses . A garage and a bedroom on the ground floor? (as I've seen on some layouts) - Also going up and down stairs all the time . And quite a few seem to only have electric heating - I hate storage heaters.
Small gardens , yes, often paved.

Traditional townhouses are amazing, ours is Edwardian. 6 double bedrooms, 3 baths, gardens - why wouldn't anyone want one- they sell at a premium here. The new 3 storey things on modern estates are not town houses (not in a town for a start).
