To curtail spending, split into two - need or want. The two are very different. Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!1

Overspending is best curtailed by doing a budget, keeping a spending diary and putting measures in place to stop you impulse spending. Removing credit cards from online shopping apps, keeping cards at home or no online spending are a few ways which will help keep this to a minimum.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Sorry to hear about your health, I know someone who suffers from fibromyalgia too. But before you start putting down all your incomes and expenditures (SOA or statement of account) I would contact one of the debt help agencies. When I had great money problems and was at my wits' end, I phoned StepChange and spoke to an adviser who helped me so much and suggested the solution which was right for me. She took down details of my income and expenditure (SOA) - which I would never put on this forum because some people here can be very judgemental and I think it's a really personal thing. If you are in the position where you need real help with debt, it's wiser just to go straight to one of the debt help agencies because people on here will probably advise you to do that anyway, once they've had a good old nosy at your income and expenditure. (In fact, someone on here has just put "SOA please", which is a bit rude.) I have to admit that I do have a soft spot for StepChange because they helped me so much and I'm in a much stronger position now, both mentally and financially. They do not judge you, either. I'm sure you won't regret it. Their number is 0800 138 1111. Good luck. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts.
