Fees

Hi I filled out the usual PPI claim form not expecting anything to come back. I was sent a request to sign letter of authority repeatedly from claims company which I never got round to. The bank in question sent me a cheque advising I was due some PPI back. I never signed the LoA for the claims company. They have continued to contact me. I was then contacted by. Laird company to say they know the case has been closed and to contact them. Should the bank be telling the claims company this without my LoA? Am I liable for fees to claims company?

thanks

Only if you signed a contract with them.

    Ask them for their evidence.

Yes.   Wet signatures ceased to be required in the build-up to the deadline.

Am I liable for fees to claims company?

It depends on the terms that you agreed to.    The actual LOA may not have been required.  However, if you used them for a "free check" and their terms said that if the bank turned this into a complaint then you would be liable of their fees then you could be.  Not all did that.

So, do as zx81 says above.  Ask them for a copy of the contract you signed.
