in Credit cards
Hi...so I got a parking charge through the post as I had parked longer than the max period at a McDonald’s...however, I’ve ignored it as I was in said mcds spending the whole time, used card to pay so got proof etc. Anyhow, I’ve carried on ignoring Well past the 28 day appeal timeframe & now been passed to the dreaded debt collector! Shall I continue to ignore? Thanks in advance.

What has this got to do with credit cards?
P.S. Continue to ignore all letters on the matter.0 -
I think that "continue to ignore" is dangerous advice. It's true that they may get fed up and go away eventually but every now and again they pursue one case through the courts - and you don't want to be that one case. I had a similar problem with a Co-op supermarket in Devon that had a 1-hour limit on parking (not long enough in my opinion especially as they had a cafe as well where we had lunch).Talk to them, grovel if necessary, assuming that the limit was well signposted they are in the right. If you think there was a genuine reason why you were there longer than expected then explain that now. It isn't too late to try.Perhaps admins can move this to the Motoring Board.0

There is a dedicated board for these tickets here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/categories/parking-tickets-fines-parking
Read the very top post that tells Newbies to read it first though. It has a comprehensive guide as to what to do.0 -
The case they choose to pursue through the courts has to be worth their while. It is always a case where someone has, for example. Parked in Mcdonalds every single day while they go to work. It is never a solitary ticket. Ever.reliquit said:I think that "continue to ignore" is dangerous advice. And even if they did take it to court, the OP has a reciept to prove they were a customer at the time.
Ignore the letters! Don't wast your time trying to grovel, you have literally done nothing wrong!0 -
This is not the best advice. UKPC will take it to court. It's pretty much a certainty. This can be killed off without going near a court room and the time and stress that entails. The parking board is the best place for this.Malkytheheed said:

Yep took me to court last year. Well, they issued the claim and I passed to my solicitor to deal. They soon bottled it and discontinued but they're a nightmare. Their tactics are shady at best, trying all sorts of threats and even threatening me with DCBL & to watch channel 5 tv show.Yea ok. It's not even gone to court you muppets so good luck there!! Bunch of cowboys!0

I really don't understand this ignore letters advice regarding parking tickets, as it rarely ends well. Dealing with things earlier on makes it much easier to resolve. You have now probably added extra fees to the original fine, and will now take you longer to sort out and require more work.
Take waamo's advice.
Proof here that UKPC do take people to court https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5427548/ukpc-court-claim/p100 -

They didn't. They threatened to. which is nothing unusual with these companies.0 -
email mcdonalds head officeDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

They didn't. They threatened to. which is nothing unusual with these companies. They issue a claim. Guess what? That means they've taken me to court. The N1 was no "threat". That was as real as your nonsense.Wow. Your ignorance has no limit. Sad. Very sad indeed.Instead of proving what a fool you are, avoid chatting on threads you've clearly no knowledge of. Simples really.3
