Double yellow parking fine outside my flat - disabled

I parked my car outside my flat on double yellow lines (not blocking anything etc, no idea why double yellows are even there). I had to park here as there were no spaces left and the disabled space I normally park in was taken (by someone with no blue badge!). I received a fine from the council and immediately disputed this claiming that I live at the address and also am disabled and had to park near my door.
Granted, I did not show my blue badge at the time of parking.
They have come back and said that even if I did show my blue badge, I would have only been allowed there for 3 hours and they will be continuing on with the penalty.
Is there anything I can do here? What do I do in future as I physically cannot walk any further than where I normally park my car?!
Any help is greatly appreciated!

You can only park for 3 hours on a double yellow and might have been OK if you had displayed the Blue Badge. You still might, if the 'observed from/to' times on the PCN are less than 3 hours.
I hope you didn't ring the Council about this - utterly pointless, if so.
There is a proper appeals process and they need to have observed the vehicle for over 3 hours. Did they? Have you properly appealed following the process shown on the PCN?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

This forum mainly deals with private charges , not council
Please join pepipoo fightback forums using a non Hotmail email address and post it in the relevant council section there
Good luck

You must - must - go to the pepipoo site as told. Council forum, which you will read before you post there, gives you info on what to include in each post.1 -

IMHO they should have accepted your Blue Badge as evidence and cancelled it because their CEO has not observed the car for more than 3 hours.
Why didn't you put the Blue Badge in the car and set the clock, then moved the car a bit, so the wheels were in a different position, then re-set the clock?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
