Paint sprayers

Has anybody had good experiences with a paint spraying machine that doesn't cost the earth?
The ones I've looked at tend to have quite mixed reviews.
I'd use it for various things - painting/staining the shed/fence, some furniture upcycling and also I have a whole house worth of skirting board and architrave to replace.
Any model recommendations or tips on what to look out for would be gratefully received!
Thanks
Pete

Sprayers generally work best on large surfaces, or on items you can get around easily. It would be OK for the fence, shed, upcycling, but not so good for skirting and architrave. You will probably spend more time masking those items than it would take to paint by hand.If you are using it for fences check that the treatment you plan to use will work with a sprayer. There was nothing on the containers of the stuff I bought, but it clogged up the sprayer very quickly. I checked the manufacturer website and it said on there not suitable for sprayers.2

I got a loan of a Wagner one from my neighbor as I had 60m of fence to do, all I will say is I will never paint a fence again with a brush.0

If you spray a fence, isn’t there a lot of paint that goes over the top? Or you leave the top and do that by hand?No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

The spray pattern on mine isn't round but elongated so you can turn it through 90 deg to reduce the amount that goes over the edge. Still wastes a bit though.GDB2222 said:If you spray a fence, isn’t there a lot of paint that goes over the top? Or you leave the top and do that by hand?0 -
I wasn't thinking so much of waste as the upset neighbours.
