Complete numpty moment

Options
whilst paying at Willen Lakes l entered my postcode not car reg (I'm blaming home schooling and being a tired NHS nurse!!).  I knew something wasn't right as it only charged me 50p.

On route home l realised and phoned Napier so l could pay the parking fee, to be told a FCN would be sent and there is nothing they can do.

As this is my fault, do l wait for the FCN and then go through the appeal stage?

Many thanks

Yes wait and appeal with proof you are front line NHS and attach proof of paying and ask them to exercise some compassion for tired nurses and cancel it as a one-off.

DO NOT PAY IF THEY REFUSE.

i have contacted Willen Lake and explained.   I attached a copy of the receipt showing my postcode and explaining my car is registered to that address,

Really hoping l don't have to pay. Is completely my fault and no excuse really but with home schooling, work being really hard going plus one of my children is autistic my brain was having an "off" moment

I'm quite impressed you could remember your postcode considering everything you had going on at that time.

I was also elated at actually being outside and that we had had a pleasant couple of hours with no meltdowns!

I have literally gone to work and home again as I've been so bothered at catching the virus from work and spreading it.

It is not competely your fault and you do realise we are NOT telling you to pay, if Napier refuse?

No, it is not your fault so get that idea out of your head. It is entirely the fault of the parking scammers who produce a set of Ts and Cs designed to ensure you fail.
If the P & D system was working properly it would not have accepted a VRM for a vehicle that was not in the car park at the time. All it would take is a few lines of computer code to fix that, but that would mean less money for the scammers, which is why they won't do it.

When you say you have contacted Willen Lake...you mean you've appealed to Napier?

    Sooo....an update.
Napier emailed me and said nothing they can do and l have to go through the appeals process.  So l phoned Willen Lake and explained my error.  Rob the site manager said once l receive the PCN to send them a photo of it and they will contact Napier to try and get it cancelled.
So finger's crossed it will be!!

Hold off on the appeal when the PCN comes, but if a cancellation is not forthcoming in time, don't miss the appeal dead;line.

Get pics of the site and signage asap if possible. Also look on Google Street View in case it shows the entrance and signage.
