Retrospective Furlough For Director

Hi.
ive asked a question regarding furlough previously but due to a number of personal factors, I didn’t claim. Life, like for many, has thrown up many upsets and challenges.
I’m wondering if the lovely community could point me in the right direction.

Here’s a summary.
* I am a very low earning director of a one person company.
* I have worked for my company for a number of years.
* I have not worked for my company since the second week of March 2020 as I am shielding and also work dried up (my field is largely customer facing).
* My company has paid me a varying wage each month for the last few years (usually £700, sometimes more, sometimes zero).
* I’m paid via PAYE and have an external payroll person to handle the RTI submissions etc. Though she has not been overly helpful or responsive during the past few months.
* I have not yet made a claim for any help from the government (not for CJRS nor Universal Credit).

Please can someone tell me what I can do now? Can I still apply for CJRS and backdate it or have I now missed out?
How best should I go about things?
Im happy for you to talk me through this like I’m a newbie, as I think baby steps will help right now. It’s been a tough time and my head is a little smooshed.

Many thanks.

As a side point. Due to a blip, I also need to re-Invoice for some work which was carried out earlier this year (feb/the start of March). I’m assuming that invoicing for work already undertaken wouldn’t be classified as income generation as such and thus against furlough rules?

I could be wrong, but as far as I know the furlough scheme has now closed to new applications and backdating isn't possible.

Anyone not furloughed by 10 June (apart from employees on maternity leave and army reservists) cannot be furloughed. So there is no need to worry about sending out invoices.

Hi Matty. Thanks for the reply. I wasn’t sure about this. I’m hearing conflicting info. Some people say that it’s closed if you furlough after the 10th of June (furlough being the act of not working, rather than the application) and that it’s still possible to apply til the end of this month, whilst others are saying applications have closed. I’m really confused.

The applications have closed for new people. Companies can still apply for people that have already been furloughed who have gone back to work and they want to furlough again.

Might be worth seeing if you can access any bounce back loans or local government grants (ASAP as some are closing) for your business.

My local council has a lot in their pot left & been desperately trying to get businesses to apply & use it, it’s from the central government and not the local district.

Yours must be the only LA in the country to still have any discretionary funds remaining.

Bounce back loan could be a good option.
