Afternoon
I have a 65 plate C3 Picasso 1.6 HDIBlue, approx 60K miles, serviced as per schedule,  had been driving on Saturday for around 20mins (mostly motorway) when in a 40 mph zone, experienced lack of power when accelarting, got to destination okay, after 4 hours started to drive home, car struggled to pull away in first, not reveing past 1,500 then few seconds later revs fine.
Yesterday morning - started up - not reving past 1,500, struggled to get going (parked on a hill) went for a small test drive, agian struggled to drive off up hill, not reving past 600, suddenly car revs to over 2,000 and can drive okay. Today car seems to be reving okay - any thoughts on what could be the issue
Thanks

Quick update - took to garage they repaced Fuel Filter,  started to drive home, same issue and this time an EML came on, took it back and fault code was showing MAF sensor, which was replaced. Still no difference, still showing EML and car still driving the same, garage passed to Auto Electrician - they have detected issue with EGR value

Plenty of info online about issues with this engine.

Looks like whoever did previous work was choosing what to change using the lucky dip method.  Without proper diagnosis at the start you end up throwing money at the issue in the hope what is changed is the right solution.

Not the same vehicle by any means but I had supposedly EGR valve issues with a Kia Sportage they never managed to sort it within the 7 year warranty.

    These are awful, problematic engines.

DPF problems cause the EGR valve to clog up, all the extra work on the engine blows the turbo.

You "might" get lucky and get away with an EGR valve but its likely it might not end there.

When i was trading I took a Focus in with an EML on and down on power - ended up spending £3,200 on getting it running properly - EGR valve, DPF, Turbo, engine oilways upgrade (required for the turbo)...

Wasnt the only one we'd problems with - spent £,£££s on these engines.  We stopped taking in any car with that engine

Thanks - EGR valve getting changed this week, if I do get lucky and this resloves the issue, is there any recommendations as to minimise the risk of future problems i.e. would a fuel treatment help, more regular oil charges etc ?
Very unlikely I could change the car at the moment, but might be able to in around 18 months

Got the car back last week, EGR value changed and car running as normal.
Garage did not charge me for the MAF sensor.
£280 to replace EGR Valve, with another £55 for the diagnostics
