Restrictions lifted on the 4th July - have we slipped through the net?

We had a holiday booked to go to Turkey on the 7th July 2020 - as we hadn’t booked it as a package we had arranged flights there with EasyJet , return flights by Jet2 and booked a villa through TUI Villas - both EasyJet and Jet2 cancelled the flights and we have received refunds - however as the travelling restrictions were lifted on the 4th July TUI villas are now chasing us for the final payment of the villa - they were scheduled to take it on the 26th May but I am assuming ( we have had to assume as TUI villas fail to respond to us) that as travelling restrictions were in place at the time this is why the money was not taken. Will we be insured by our Credit Card for this scenario and will we be able to get our money back?

Chances are that TUI Villas will be able to argue that the villa was available and therefore you won't be eligible for a refund, and in that scenario your credit card won't be able to help either.  You can argue with TUI Villas that they were unresponsive but it wasn't really safe to assume that the booking wasn't going ahead and so it's likely to be regarded as you cancelling rather than them doing so.  Do you have travel insurance that may cover this?
