Restricted to switching energy providers due to no fault of my own

A few years back council has renamed the adress of our property.
Since then there is always an issue in swirching the energy providers as theor automated systems can not link our address to MPRN.
Our current provider insist it is on the database of the National Database but the new provider can not see it.
I am totally lost with this one. Is there just one database or a few?
What can I do to get the situation resolved? I have already contacted my existing provider amd they said that my address is on the national database.

There is a method of the suppliers updating the database (or at least looking up and finding the correct one).

It's fairly common for addresses not to match (from my experience of having lived in flats where the Royal Mail, the council tax office, the gas and electricity databases all had variations on the address).

Give them the serial number of the meter and ask them what address they have.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Have you tried asking on the Energy board? There are a few knowledgeable people on there.

If you're unsure, login to your online account (if you have one with your current provider) and the meter numbers should be obtainable form there.

Use the address that the system recognises?

Our postcode changed a few years ago and many legacy systems (eg financial ) can not marry our address with postcode so I have to use the old postcode.  One lot I was locked out of an account for a month when I inputted  new postcode by mistake.  These things van be a total pain to sort out, good luck you are going to need it.
