Hi can anyone advise..I intended to go to Kos mid September.. booked through a Travel Agent ..BARRHEAD TRAVEL, paid monthly instalments ..After i had booked a friend decided to come along , so i booked him on a flight + booked directly with the hotel in Kos... something i should have done .. would have saved a fortune.....Anyway.. i received an email from Jet2 to inform me that all flights to Kos flying from Glasgow are cancelled this year.. :(.. apologizing for the cancellation+ told me my money for the flight would be transferred back into my account.. Which it was..
I contacted my travel agent BARRHEAD TRAVEL A well known travel firm in Scotland .. by email several times .. to ask if my holiday was cancelled ? no reply until Thursday last week....telling me to continue paying my holiday ... WHICH IS PAID.. or i would lose my money.. They stated the holiday was still going ahead..!!!
I EXPLAINED I KNEW THE PROCEDURE AS I HAD SPOKEN TO ONE OFF THEIR STAFF AT THE BEGINNING OFF THE PANDEMIC TO SEEK ADVICE REGARDS CANNCELLING .., I WAS TOLD TO CONTINUE WITH MY MONTHLY PAYMENTS WHICH I DID..
I also stated that if you go online to their own website Kos is no longer available.. as is Jet2 website..
Surely they know this.. and would have the decency  to let their customers know how they stand.. instead i received a cheeky email, i totally understand these companies are inundated with enquiries .., but at least do your homework before replying with false info..

Don't use an agent when you can go direct, cut out the middleman next time.

It seems Easyjet also operate Glasgow-Kos.  Is there anything in Barrhead's T&Cs about moving you to alternative flights?  Obviously if Easyjet flights are not available on the dates you booked then you're entitled to a refund anyway.

Flight schedules and frequencies are changing rapidly at the moment, so you might need to give the agents a little bit of slack, they’ll be playing catch up and probably have thousands of bookings to deal with.  Many are doing it in departure date order which makes sense.

If you booked as a package you are protected and will be entitled to a full refund in the event they can’t provide your holiday. The above poster is correct though, for package holidays, their T&C’s will likely allow them to find alternative flights if needed.  Whether they realistically can at the moment - unlikely - but I’m sure they will get round to sorting your booking out one way or another.
