Nope eBay separated out PayPal in 2015 and it now has its own shareholders.

Thank you! I do realise my mistake however, I was shielding so going to collect wasn’t really an option for me. I have definitely learnt my lesson and will never buy anything off Facebook again as people can be very deceptive I guess previous times I have gotten very lucky when buy on Facebook.
People can be deceptive (and honest) everywhere. You just bought in the wrong way for the market you were using.

Vowing to never buy on Facebook again is like saying, "I gave £200 cash to a stranger in the street who said he'd post me a cheap iPad and didn't. So now I can't buy a newspaper, cappuccino, or a copy of the big issue from a street seller again because people "on the street" can be deceptive.
    • The rich buy assets.
    • The poor only have expenses.
    • The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.

You can buy a basic laptop on ebay for the money you paid.  But yes, if buying on Facebook only pay cash and collect, there are ways to keep yourself safe when collecting. You just have to be aware that while some sellers will be honest, if its a scammer and there's a way to exploit something they will use it.  If its an insecure way to buy something, scammers will use it.  Sorry you have lost your money but you have to protect yourself, no one else will.
