Ford Ecosport 2017 Rear door jammed
Options
My vehicle is just out of warranty 17,000 miles, the rear door lock has failed and jammed. Ford are arranging replacement activator since they could not open, this could be a substantial amount to pay for a part that really Ford already know has problems, it is a fault. Why should I pay for a replacement and labour?

is it a known fault? has there been any recalls? Has anyone else got ford to comtribute as (you say) its a know fault? have you by passed the dealer and tried Ford UK.
if all else fails the car is out of warranty so you may just be unlucky
Just seen your other thread from jan re engine problems, did you get that sorted as there doesnt seem to be an update0 -
You should pay because the vehicle is out of warranty.
If you want longer warranty buy extra years from Ford or buy a vehicle which has longer standard warranty terms from new.
However if your car has a full Ford service history tell them you are disappointed it has failed so soon after the warranty expired, especially if you have evidence of it being a known fault, and you want them to consider a contribution to the cost of the work.0 -
Thanks both for your prompt replies. I have read other reports on another forum where same problem occurred and not on an older vehicle. I guess it's like having the engine blow up on a 3 year old car, just bad luck and not to expect parts like locks to last much longer. The issue I had in Jan got fixed under warranty, had the engine sensor replaced and also the coolant tank since that was blown out of it's cradle due to the sensor fail.0

There are nearly 90,000 Ford Ecosports on UK roads.

So far, you know that two have had problems with the rear door latches.
Let's be honest here... It's an Indian-built Tesco value Fiesta on stilts. Yes, there may be problems as it slides into middle age. No, Ford won't care that much.0 -
I can vouch that Ford don't care when I discovered their 3 year warranty isn't!
I'll never buy another Ford again.
They do drive well (generally) and have decent levels of trim but aftercare is woeful.0
