This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.

Good morning folks.Yesterday turned into a good day all round. The sun came out and stayed for a long time although there was a stiff breeze too. I did a small washing load which was put on the line outside. That made me really happy for some reason. Then I cut back the huge rosemary thug and pulled more weeds up.Two elderly neighbours turned up for a cup of tea and chat and a wander round the garden. The wife asked for some of the rosemary branches which I gladly handed over. Back in the garden I decided to spray the bramble shoots with weedkiller. They tend to come up everywhere if not checked.During the early evening three more neighbours came along bringing gin and wine. 😀 We had such a jolly time even though I didn't have any ice or any nibbles but plenty of warm tonic as the fridge is turned off still. I thoroughly enjoyed catching up and relaxing with good friends who I've missed. The news about DM was also better than on Friday. The delirium seems to have been very short lasting (may just have been down to dehydration) though her fever and heart rate are still too high. She sent a series of very coherent long'ish texts which soothed me. The report from the ward was also much more positive. This morning I'll be packing up and tidying up things here. A friend has offered to cut my hair, no shaping just taking off some length which will such a relief. 😀 Then it's back to Glasgow.I hope that everyone is doing well. SNOOZER - what a PIA palaver you've had. Glad it's sorted.Happy Sunday to all.15

Morning folks and thanks GERS. Good news re your DM and you sound to have had a thoroughly nice couple of days back home again. It sounds such an idyllic spot to live in.
I never got on here yesterday. I had bad news from DB Friday night about his ongoing health problems and I couldn't sleep for thinking about him. I felt fit for nothing all day yesterday. Surprisingly I slept better last night but he's forever on my mind.
The sun is shining today which is lovely after the drab day we ended up with yesterday. I really should go out and tidy the front garden up, it's looking a total mess with weeds everywhere. I'll see what I feel like when I am organised indoors!
I ordered 2 packs of sea bass fillets on my Iceland order and what was delivered but 2 whole sea bass. Aaargh I don't do fish heads with the dead eye "looking" at me. I left one out to defrost and then covered the head and eye up, girded my loins and cut it off. Fortunately it was already de-boned etc ready for stuffing so I split it and had one fillet for tea (oven cooked with lemon & garlic) and will have the other one today. After the debacle with the head I really enjoyed it!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, poorly mums, sad, worried or lonely. Take care all and stay safe x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Morning folks and thanks for starting us off Gers. I’m so pleased that you have good friends and that things have eased for you. It’s great that your mum is back to texting.TA I’m sorry to hear about your DB. Nigh time can be so long when your mind is going over worries. Could you get something fairly monotonous like a word search to do to help occupy your mind in the night if not sleeping? And I think your garden and weeds can wait till you feel like sorting them out.Sunny morning and about to head out with dog. Small cup of tea first. Will be first of many though. We watched the film Eurovision on Netflix last night. Nonsense but we enjoyed it. Lovely shots of Edinburgh.Sunday sausages later this morning. I’ll have the last two Linda MCartney Lincolnshire with a nice squirt of tomato sauce. Easy tea of something today 😁.Look after yourselves folks x13

Morning All
Lovely that you've shared your time at home with friends Gers, glad your DM seems better.
Hugs to you TA, such a worry for you. The weeds can wait or you can take your frustrations out on them!
We had a lovely day out yesterday, found an amazing fish and chip shop by the harbour at Troon and the wait was worth it, the batter on the fish was so light I ate it all! We had a walk along the beach and apart from a slight shower it was lovely and sunny but a bit blowy. We did get a bit lost as there was a road closed and the diversions were a bit confusing but we got home in the end. Thank goodness for supermarkets and their toilets!
Nothing planned for today but some chilling and garden tidying, quite looking forward to it. Enjoy Sunday everyone, take care. XX13 -
Morning everyone
Gers - thanks for starting us off x
Bright sunny start to the day - similar to yesterday - bbq was nice and it was also nice to be able to sit outside to eat.
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH watching catchup tv, I'm enjoying my first cuppa and a brekkie bar whilst on here, I'll be going for a shower shortly, DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Last night dinner was bbq salad, hot new potatoes etc, some LO's so that will be tomorrow night's dinner etc. Lunch today will be roast chicken etc.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all.
Gers, I bet the news about your DM must have relieved your mind and left you free to relax and enjoy the company. Pottering about your own home and garden for a day must be as good as a week's holiday.
TA, so sorry to hear the news of your DB. The older we get, the closer we grow to those who have shared our childhood memories and our shared family history. Well, that's what I have found. My DB is 75, but he is still my baby brother. When he had a nearly fatal heart attack 2 years ago I was grief stricken, so I realise what you are going through just now. Just be kind to yourself.
It looks like being another sunny day today so I'm not planning to do anything in the energetic line. Sitting somewhere shady with a book appeals to me, perhaps with a glass of something cool beside me.
As the people who know about these things have promised a dry settled spell, I will go round all my gravel paths tonight waving a spray can of weed-killer in a threatening manner. It's getting hard to see where the paths end and the overgrown lawns begin.

Morning all
Nice bright day here I have stripped the beds and got them in the wm they should dry well today, OH will re-make them later. DD went to stay with an old friend last night so I 'baby' sat her puppy she was a good girl but really missed her mum they have not really been apart since lock down started but it will do the pup some good im sure.
Onto today the lawns need cutting and also the back hedge needs a trim, next door did there half a week ago so we are letting the side down somewhat !! I shall do the grass and OH the hedge as we have a really heavy long hedge cutter which I cant lift for long.
Yesterday was lovely we rode out to a local place called the brewhouse and had lunch and OH had a beer I had a ginger beer which was lovely, I had a sourdough toastie with cheese ham and chutney and OH had a focaccia roll with mozerella pesto and tomato and we shared some loaded chips, we could hardly get on the bikes after we were so full !! so we just had a light supper last night.
Tonight will be the steak and chips which was meant for last night with roasted garlic tomatoes and stuffed mushrooms which I am looking forward to.
Gers so glad you had a good time at home and that mum seems a bit better xx
TA I am sorry to hear about your brother, sending love xx
Bella thinking of you xx
Have good days all xx13 -
Morning all.Yesterday my day went downhill fast when I took Dad's shopping up to him. I was furious with him as he put all our lives in jeopardy and let him have it both barrels, normally I just bite my tongue. I think I unleashed the spirit of my late DM, she was a real spitfire. Mr Fix It was also mad with him but got back in the car out of the way. On the way home he remarked that he had never heard me as speak like that in all the years we've been married, I don't ever remember either. I shall ring him tonight but we won't be seeing Dad for at least 2 weeks. Sorry rant over.Today the sun is out so there is more washing in the machine. I've taken down our bedroom curtains and put them in as well as I didn't do them in my spring clean. I have topped up the dishwasher container and decanted some anti bac soap into my squirty container. It wasn't the one I ordered from Morries but will still do the job and smells pleasant. Next job is to decant the washing powder in to the container under the sink, I bought one of those huge boxes and I didn't realise it would be so heavy ( Mr Fix It carried it)I don't know what to have for tea tonight but there is some ready cooked chicken in the fridge, or I have some minted lamb chops if I feel like cooking.TA sorry to read about your DB, hugs.Camelot glad you enjoyed your fish and chips.Gers safe journey home and I'm sending DM healing vibes as always.Take care all, stay safe and wellnan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently14

Morning All
Sorry been MIA for a while but have tried to keep up with all your news.
Sending love and hugs especially to
Gers, Bella and TA
Been a very difficult few weeks my DSis lost her battle on 28 th June and is now at peace
Sadly DDad and I are both shielded so we were not allowed to go to her funeral which makes it worse somehow
Dniece sent us photos of the flowers she has been so brave her mum was also her best friend and she has made some wonderful memories in the past 10 months. I'm so glad we got to see her before lockdown and even managed to cross an item off her bucket list
My DH has been so good with me and he struggles to deal with loss and how to deal with me
Both of my expectant ladies started their maternity leave on Friday so have had to up my game to finish the two cardigans im knitting which is all well and good but I seem to have given myself bad backache
Hope you all have a good Sunday
