Can I change my mind after accepting a voucher?

Hello,
Wondering if anyone can advise. We were booked on a trip to Fuerteventura in June, flights booked with Jet2, hotel booked directly (Iberostar). Both were cancelled, and we accepted vouchers from both because we knew would would want to go later this year. We are planning to go in September. The issue now is that 1) it is cheaper to go as a package with Jet2, and 2) we would probably prefer the higher level of protection with it being booked as a package.
Do we have any right to go back to the hotel and request a refund? They didn't actually offer a cash refund in the first place so my suspicion is no, and we had agreed to the voucher in the first place. We would then use our Jet2 voucher towards the package.
If anyone has done a similar thing let me know! In any case it can't hurt to ask the hotel since our plan would be to stay with them anyway so technically they won't have lost our custom..! Thanks.

You can ask them, but I've a feeling they won't be handing cash out where they don't need to - so they'll probably decline.
  • Agree with previous.   Can't actually see it t.b.h. because the price paid to hotel from Jet 2 will probably be much less than they get direct which is why most hotels try to promote a direct booking in future (well my experience has been this anyway)   As you have accepted the voucher I don't think telling them you will still book into their hotel only cheaper will have the desired effect of requesting a refund.   You can only try though as you say.

Thanks guys. As expected it was a firm no from the hotel. I can appreciate why it is more expensive given that they aren't opening to capacity.
    Worth a try anyway!
  • Yes as you said, probably to be expected but thanks for letting us know anyway.   Hopefully you can book some flights at a reasonable price from Jet 2 now eh?
