Hi
We booked last December with BA a round trip from Edinburgh to Cancun on a “One Ticket” the flight is due to leave on 29 Aug 2020. BA have already cancelled the internal leg from Edinburgh to Gatwick on the outbound but no mention of the other parts.

Can I ask for a refund for the whole trip now without waiting for the international leg or the return to be cancelled? My understanding of the CAA rules is yes.
Thanks

In theory, yes, we can request refunds for cancelled flights. But in practice, how? The website does not allow you to submit a request for a refund, and instructs customers to ring a phone line. The phone line offers several options, and following the number trail to request a refund results in being hung up on. It's the same for the Executive Club number. And it's been like this for months. What other way is there? Writing a lettter to a postal address??

I rang them yesterday about 6/7 pm didn't select any of the options offered and was connected to an adviser in less than 2 minutes.0 -
Keep trying. If you are happy to accept a future travel voucher (valid for travel upto April 2022) you can usually do this via logging in to your account and using 'manage my booking'. If you want a refund then you need to persevere with the phone.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. The only practical way is to do a chargeback, no point in waiting for months-which is exactly what BA want you to do.sixteenohnine said:In theory, yes, we can request refunds for cancelled flights. We had our BA flights cancelled last week (due to fly in September). After six or seven attempts, I got through, spoke to a very helpful guy who told me my avois (used to part pay) would be credited back to my account within hours and my refund would take 4-6 weeks. He was partly right; avios were back in my account within a couple of hours but my refund took just a week.
Persevere would by my advice.0 -

Just don't choose any options when calling BA and you will get connected to human after a bit of wait. They will do refund no problem.0

I had a flight booked with BA and due to covid took the voucher and booked a later date. Now BA have cancelled that flight due to no longer operating from our regional airport. This is for travel next year, I have no need to travel with BA to anywhere else as it was an internal short haul flight can I expect a cash refund as they are pushing me to take another voucher that in reality i wont ever be able to use ??0
