Need Help to Transfer Photos from Phone to EHD

Hi Guys,
Just over a year ago I bought a Samsung J4+ mobile and I've now run out of space because I've taken hundreds of photos. I looked on YT but couldn't find the help I needed so I'd really appreciate someone giving me step-by-step instructions as to what I need to do to transfer the photos from my phone onto an external hard drive using my MacBook Pro. Please keep it simple because I struggle with the technical terminology. I look forward to receiving your help.

On your Macbook goto photos.google.com/  in your browser (or just click on my link).
Are all your photos there?  If so select them ("tick" the first and "shift+tick" the last to select all) and then click on options (3 vertical dots top right) and download.
