Harvey's in administration what are my rights?

I ordered some furniture on 8th Jan 2020 and it was due to be delivered 22nd April. Then I got a phone call to say it would be delayed by 2 weeks. Of course Covid 19 hit so have just been waiting. Went on the website 1st July to see they have gone into administration. Apparently our deposits are safe and orders made before 30th June will be honoured. It did seem to say there would be no Warranty. I assume that means if there is a fault I have no redress. What is the best thing to do? Is it a good idea to ask for a reduction in the cost to compensate?

I can't see how you'd be entitled to a reduction in the cost (or at least, how you'd have any prospect of receiving a refund). Getting the goods at all is probably a good result.

Did you pay by credit card or another form of credit?

If so, if something happens that should have been covered by the warranty (e.g. the furniture falls apart and the warranty says it should be replaced), you could try a section 75 claim against the credit provider at that stage.

I think we need to be a little careful here as a Warranty is above and beyond your statutory rights, and so if the they are saying that if the sale continues that the Warranty is gone then its possible that the card company would have no liability to the warranty. It needs to be clear however if its sold without a warranty or its sold with a warranty but as the provider of the warranty is gone its pointless (though not if paid by credit card). The PWC website implies they won't be honoured not that they don't exist.

To add to complexities they also sell insurance but that is underwritten by an insurer so they are continuing.

Outside of warranties the sale would also be covered by the statutory rights under CRA2015 and the credit card provider would always be jointly liable for such rights if the item was defective etc.
