Cost of replacing damaged bumper and rear light

Read my original post.Hermione_Granger said:Your original post initially stated "rear bumper and light" and not rear light. It could have been assumed that you were simply referring to the number plate light especially as the rear light assembly isn't part of the bumper and you mentioned that there was only cosmetic damage to the vehicle.
This isn't about semantics - the structure of the vehicle is not damaged just what can be seen so it's cosmetic0 -
I have done, and before you edited it your original post stated "rear bumper and light" which as I stated, could have been assumed to be number plate light especially as the rear light assembly is not part of the bumper.Yorky1 saidRead my original post.

Sorry but if the impact has been enough to damage the lights then it's not just external cosmetic and you may get a surprise once the bumper has been removed. I take it the hatchback has been opened and closed again? I once got hit up the rear at a low speed, it didn't appear to be much at all, a bit of damage to the bumper however when I opened the hatchback it wouldn't close again as the rear quarter on one side came in an inch due to unseen damage so the hatchback would no longer fit in it's intended hole.Yorky1 said:

Bumpers are plastic so they deform on impact but can then return to something approaching original shape,so the damage may look superficial but could be hiding hidden horrors that won't be apparent until the bumper is removed.0 -
Update: They settled for £375.

Don't think you're off the hook yet, especially if they've not yet had the bumper taken off. They've 3 years to put in an insurance claim.Yorky1 said:Update: They settled for £375.

I thought that it was up to 6 years for claims for damage and that the 3 year period was for personal injury.MinuteNoodles said:
