You could ask if you saw someone out gardening. It may seem a strange request but you could try putting it on a local Facebook or Gumtree page. 🤔
A FB request locally could be worthwhile IMO,
Folk are generally helpful if they are able to and at little or no inconvenience to them, walking around my area I see items, such as books,  left out side with notes to help yourself

Yes, we have a 'Boredom Buster' box in my road with jigsaws, books, DVDs etc.

OMG could be spreading the virus, unless you have disinfected them

I’d be perplexed at someone having the cheek, then say no.

I'm not sure why this would be any different than going to a shop, you can take stuff. home and quarantine if you wish and ensure you wash you hands etc . I think it's a good idea especially when libraries are closed and charity shops are just opening
Probably less risky if it's outside.

I think I would ditto what Frith said, 5 or 6 stems is way too many, it would be a no.

We have hydrangea bushes and I would be put out especially just now. I would recommend growing them yourself, or maybe ask on a local FB page to see if anyone has any they can part with/maybe a plant you can have. It's better than putting someone on the spot. :)

I would also say no - you might end up knocking the door of someone that might not want to answer the door in the first place. You might put them under undue anxiety and stress thinking you're the bailiffs or who knows what else. Better to approach people in the garden, or put up a local fb request.
