Rishi Sunak £5000 Energy Voucher Initiative
Hello
The latest initiative by Rishi was fantastic news, both for the homeowner and the local trades people. Unfortunately there is no information out there about how to become eligible to be able to provide the work for our local customers. Most of these schemes in the past have been abused by the 'Solar' companies who understand how to access the schemes.
The outcome of all of this is that the tax payer is robbed by companies designed to get as much work as possible, pay sub contractors peanuts to install and then over charge the customers.
To drive the economy forward good local trades people need to be able to become approved. Having Public Liability insurance, trade specific qualifications and years of experience just isn't enough it seems.
Can anyone please shed light on how we become approved, because today 10/07/2020 the energy saving trust could not tell me.......

The details haven't been released yet
Like most of the Government's announcements during this crisis, they make the headline grabbing announcements first and the details follow several days later (IME)Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endQuidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur3 -
If you do hear, please do let me know0

I’d just check the gov.uk website now and again
And no doubt MSE will update their article linked to in the pink/purple box at the top of the pageEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endQuidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur0 -
The complete lack of info on this is truly impressive, as above, a headline grabbing announcements and then silence. . . .
Do we really think this will cover solar? I was planning on finally getting this done this year??

If you tried a bit harder you'd know that the info will be coming out in September - so there's no point in holding your breath until then.
The general consensus from the chattering classes (the DM etc) is that it's mainly for insulation and possibly double glazing but probably not for renewables or even replacement boilers, so like the rest of us you'll have to wait and see
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
It'll be a charter for the flybenights who inhabited the space before when there were grants. Firms claiming for insulating a whole loft but only doing the area round the loft hatch, carrying out cavity wall insulation installs so badly that the homeowners suffered from severe condensation issues afterwards and installing inferior double glazing units that fail or allow draughts/water in round the poorly fitted units. And then they "go bust" as soon as the complaints mount up.1
