By all means moan at them for a reduction but this could have two impacts:

    1) sour relations further
    2) a long shot but the money they give you back being the difference between them going bust or not.

I have 6 hotels booked for next month, none paid for, however I was happy with the price I was quoted and clearly you were when you booked the wedding. Yes I am aware this is a money saving website but as Jeremy says, the tax point for the business will have been the invoice date.
Can tell you now they aren’t going bust, any weddings that have moved To 2021 they have still made couples pay In 2020 so cash rich plus they have opened new stores on site during lockdown!
I just find it double standards that if rate had gone up I’d be paying more but they aren’t prepared to even offer a slight reduction on our costs
Or even additional room bookings that we will take so more money In for them!

I'm sorry but its not about whether the hotel will go bust or not....  letting them essentially charge extra depends on your generosity.  If the contract specifically allows for changes to price due to VAT then it is likely to be enforceable both ways.  Imagine if VAT changes went the other way, i highly doubt the hotel would have swallowed the rise. It all depends on your contract
