Unauthorised credit check

I split with my ex over eight years ago. She has applied for a mortgage and I've been credit checked by the lender. Does anyone know if this is because we had a joint mortgage previously, or should I suspect fraudulent activity?  I called the lender and they wouldn't give me any info. Surely I have a right to know why a hard credit search was carried out on me?

Are you currently financially  linked ?

If you are then this could be why.

I suspect you are still seen as 'Financially linked'. I would contact the credit reference agencies and get rid of this as soon as to save yourself from getting anymore searches.

As long as you don't have any open accounts you are both named on, then you can apply to all of the CRA's for a 'Notice of disassociation'.
