I know Domestos kills 99% of germs, but I'm worried about the 1% that got away.0 -
Out of curiosity what beers were in the box/is there a link that has the contents?
Unfortunately in the UK "craft beer" is not a protected term in any sense so we have mass producers muscling in (eg Guinness calling "Hop House" craft) and no names putting out rubbish with the craft badge. Fortunately we also have many fantastic breweries like Cloudwater, BBNo, Verdant, Northern Monk, LHG, Kernel etc etc and I am personally lucky living close to the Bermondsey Beer Mile so have over 30 to choose from.
From what you say the products weren't off but simply poor quality and hence the analogy doesn't really work. They have refunded what you didn't use and so I think that is a reasonable result. Sure a better company would have gone the extra mile but you say it was a price driven purchase and so expectations need to reflect that.
PS. I really don't get why MSE is put on such a pedestal in terms of "I'm surprised that they'd recommend a company without fantastic customer service". They are, and always have been, a for profit organisation. The view of them as a "consumer champion" has always been overrated. I do agree they are generally a little more open than some others but they have never been saints (nor do they really claim they are).

Just to re-empahsise, the box contained a range of beers. For example 3x8 different beers. Would hardly have been fair to drink one of the 8 varities and say, "That is crap, I want my money back."I think trying 5 out of 8 was a very test. No, I did not finish any of those 5 beers. All of them were atrocious. By that I mean tasted as though someone had urinated into a can and added a bit of fizz! And removed any trace of alcohol.I returned the unopened beers for a refund on those. My expectation would be that when a company is clearly taking the mickey out of its customers by sending out sub-standard products, they should offer a full refund. Or refund me on the unopened and offer me a voucher on a future order to prove that their beer is usual good quality. The fact that they didn't do that I think shows that even they don't have confidence in the quality of their own products.
I strongly advise everyone to advoid Flavourly and stick to only buying what you know. Whether that is budget lager, decent craft beer, or some other high-end or niche offering. What a pity! It is a great idea and could introduce people to new flavours, styles and brands. Instead, Flavourly is a disaster!0 -

Honestly, cut the drama and the hyperbole. You bought some beers, you didn't like them, returned the unopened ones and they refunded you. Where's the consumer rights matter here? It sounds as if they've done exactly the right thing.
Stick to bitter.8 -

Stick to bitter.
I know what how?Literally everything I wrote is personal experience.Consumer Rights would cover unsatisfactory product. For example, if you advertise yourself as the best craft beer out there and then you send pond water.Basically, Flavourly's beers are crap and it is missed opportunity. No drama, just wanted some advice initially, and trying to help you guys avoid my mistake. And you can keep the bitter :P I'll take an IPA0 -
Flavourly have a reputation for being very marmite. Some people love them, others can’t stand them at all. It wouldn’t really be worthwhile for them to offer you a voucher, as it seems you hated 5 different types of their beer, so it’s unlikely you’d have found one you liked. Potentially you’d find one you could tolerate; but you may well have to try a decent amount that you can’t stand first.Unfortunately it comes down to that while you passionately hate them, others don’t, and there’s nothing intrinsically wrong with them from what you’ve said. So if we’re using fruit, it’s more similar to buying a fruit salad, trying a piece of all the fruit and then asking for a refund because you don’t like fruit; than it is to your rotten raspberry comparison.I’ll be giving the box a swerve, though!Signature down for maintenance :rotfl:0

They weren’t too your taste. No different to buying a pint in a pub and it not being to your taste. You’re not getting a refund after you’ve downed it.There was nothing wrong with the beers except being crap, in your opinion. My mate loves fosters. Many people think fosters is crap. Doesn’t mean you get a refund!2

I am no craft beer God but I don't like coffee so there are many stouts and porters that I don't try however I am with the OP in saying I occasionally try a beer that I don't like (normally because of a strong coffee taste) but overall I can say its a good beer even if not to my tastes (ie there are other flavours there that I can appreciate even if I don't like one of them).
Obviously where this all comes unstuck is if there was any promise over quality. A beer is a beer is a beer... even Fosters could legally be called craft beer in the UK if they wanted to as there is no legal definition of the term.
In any decent pub, at least craft beer pubs in London, you absolutely can return your beer because its not to your taste... arguably the "downing it" is a moot point as you generally cannot post an open bottle of beer but can return a pint with a few sips gone. In practice many such bars in London will offer you a free sample before you buy a pint so the risks are reduced (the alcohol also prepares you for the price they then charge afterwards)
