So1) what exactly does the PF say? Please quote.2) what structural work (if any) had been done?In any event, as it was sold by Executers who probaby knew nothing about any structural work, it is unlikely they lied, which would be necessary for a successful claim.Either simply ignore the letter, or reply with a singe sentence "We do not accept any liability for any work now required to the property.'0

Had any structural work been done? If so, who filled in the PIF saying that none had been done?Brenoo63 said:Yes quote " Futher, the PIF stated that no structual work has been done yet upon entering the property our client became aware that was not the case."

So solicitor must be well aware that an action has no chance of success, but he's billed the client for an LBA in the vain hope that you might just roll over and pay up £14K on receipt anyway?
Definitely an instance in which you can invoke Arkell vs Pressdram in your reply...No free lunch, and no free laptop

He did not have a survey donedavidmcn said:There's a difference between saying "There has been no structural work done during the ownership of the deceased" Vs (as would be the normal response in this situation) "Not so far as is known" or " the buyer should rely on their own survey"So ask your brother to get out the paperwork and tell you what he wrote. But as macman says above, a solicitor will write any letter making any claim that his client pays him to write. And will commence a legal action if his client insists, even against his advice where he knows the action will fail.
