I have received the V11 form from DVLA to renew my vehicle's tax. At the bottom of the page in the 'Tax at Post Office section', where it explains what is required, it states 'for vehicles registered with a Northern Ireland address a certificate of insurance or cover note.. and in brackets it states ' downloaded copies are acceptable, photocopies are not'
Now I'm somewhat bemused with this, so can someone please humour me. Is it possible to tell the difference between a document that's been printed from a download as against one that's been photocopied.

It's a hangover from pre-PDF times.
Quite why NI continues to require an insurance cert to tax is another question entirely, given it's nearly a decade since the rest of the country moved on, and since NI hasn't had a separate vehicle registry for six years.1
