holiday pay accrual during furlough

I was furloughed April 20 .The agency I worked for said that they would add holiday pay accrual to my furlough calculation, working on the figures they relayed to me I have found that is incorrect and the furlough amount only accounts for the said 80%.
I have since found out that I am not the only one at that agency.
After numerous inquiries I/we do not appear to be getting any answers.

So you’ve only been paid 80% of the holiday? They need to up it to 20% from their pocket so you get 100%

Your post isn't very clear. If I understand you correctly, you have only received 80% of your wages and you haven't received any holiday pay?

This is correct. However, you should also have payslips for each month showing the holiday amount accruing in hours or days. It's quite normal for a business not to pay out the holiday, but that doesn't mean you haven't earned it. It would be paid out if you took holidays or left their employ.

What's written on the payslips? If you haven't got payslips, request them.

Do you mean your accrued holiday is being paid at 80% of what it normally is? Your holiday should be paid at normal rate, even if you are furloughed.

Lots of companies are requiring that staff take the holiday accrued from furlough while on furlough.  This is doubly difficult for an agency as they have no client to claim the costs of the holiday accrual from.
  • Hi, I am on furlough since April but I got payrise in March. Of course the furlough amount was being taken from February so I am getting 80% of my old salary.
We will be very busy when back at work at looking at coming back probably around September so I've decided to take some holiday as I know that I won't be able to take my holiday when back. Now, is this legal that I am going to be paid for annuall leave 100% of the salary before the payrise only because I wasn't in my new role for long time?

The basic rule is that you should be no worse off on holiday than when working, at least for 20 days a year. That means that you should be paid what you would have been paid if not furloughed, so you would expect your pay rise to be taken into account. This assumes that your pay does not vary when at work. I am assuming also that your pay has only been reduced for periods while you are furloughed, not for all pay whether working or not.
  • Yes my pay doesn't vary when at work and my pay is only reduced because they had to base furlough on February payslip and my first increased pay was in March, and as soon as I'm back at work I'll be paid increased pay again. Thank you very much for your help!
