What in the way of green stuff can I plant now, for winter yield? Like chard or kale - anything that can be flung into a soup or stew.

    kale, you might be luck if you sow now and maybe cabbages or cabbage leaves, pak choi, mustard greens, reine de glaces lettuce. See if you can get plug kale or cabbage plants, more likely to survive for a bit.
