  • I never had any issues being checked after using self scan, I think you need to chill out.
Nothing to see here, move along.

Yes I understand that and of course times are difficult believe me I know.I can understand being checked once or twice and yes we could use a till but we feel that the quicker we are out of the shop with as less contact as possible is good at present.Yes I agree with some of the comments and but am just angry with being searched when we have done nothing wrong that’s all

Don't know if anybody has noticed this but since going BR in May we have been selected for a security check every time we used a Scan and go facility in Asda/Tesco/Sainsbury but only main sites not local. Before I went BR I had no problem.Any thoughts peeps

There is another possibility that nobody has mentioned - these checks are randomised based on the quality of the shopper's scan. If when a check is made - it's 100 percent accurate - it's recorded in the algorithm, and then it decides when to trigger the next check. Could it be possible (not intentionally of course - and I mean that) that when you were first checked recently, there might have been a mis-scan in your trolley? Something you pointed the scanner at, popped it in the trolley, but it didn't actually record? You might have been distracted and didn't notice it? If you happened to miss an item - that would flag up and increase the frequency of your checks for a while, until the algorithm was sure that you were back to 100 percent.

Have you intermingled scan as you shop with doing internet delivery’s? Have you bought higher value items on internet deliveries for some reason? The algorithms then think you’ve been getting the “same” shop when you self-scan, but you’ve been “forgetting” the expensive items. They don’t appear to realise that you buy bottles of wine etc when it’s being delivered and you don’t have to carry it home!

Do you scan something then change your mind and take it off using the handset or phone ?

    Use click and collect then.

  • I used the shop and scan once when it first came out. I wasn't used to the system and forgot to scan something, or maybe it didn't scan properly. I don't know, but it was an accident. I got checked and the item I missed got scanned, which I was really glad of but completely mortified as it looked like I had done it deliberately. I haven't trusted myself to do shop and scan since.

Your experience OP sounds like a big coincidence. I think others are right that the stores will have been upping security lately.

    You just look guilty :)

No it's coincidence and if you don't like their terms and conditions take it to a checkout (probably quicker than having things rescanned )
An answer isn't spam just because you don't like it......

This is definitely coincidence, there is no way the different brands coordinate their checks.
