COVID test for travelling

I am due to travel early August. I am unable to contact Virgin unless the holiday is within 14 days however if I need to change/cancel our holiday this must be done at least 21 days prior! Apparently we need to have a COVID test but have not been told this by our travel company. Is this true? Where do I get one from? How soon before holiday will they accept the certificate? How much could this cost?? Lots of questions that Virgin won’t answer!!!

It would be helpful if you mentioned where you are travelling to before people can comment if what you have heard is true.
Have you looked at the Foreign & Commonwealth travel advice pages on the .gov website? https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice1
