Missed stamp duty cut by 2 days

We completed on a house on Friday after renting for the last 11 years! We paid £13,250 on stamp duty tax now it’s been abolished. Not even 3 days apart!

Emailed the solicitor and she said she paid it days ago. Might give HMRC a call in the morning and see if we can apply for a refund.davidmcn said:

Why would she have paid it before completion? If the return is wrong then it can be corrected anyway.Luckystarr_2 said:

It was a question - hence the question mark. I had seen something on the BBC news that indicated it only came into play from midnight. Thanks for clearing that up.
