Indesit washer dryer IWDE126....just found the part here: https://parts.indesit.co.uk/product/model_IWDE126UK/Control_Knobs/J00301798

the broken knob pulls off easily, will the new somehow ‘click’ on so it doesnt come off again?

thank you so much for any help XXX

It should either have a built in spring mechanism or be an interference fit

Not sure what you mean ( sorry to be thick).....does this mean i just ‘push’ the new knob on and it will stay?

    interference fit - it's just tight/friction fit
spring mechanism  - it's usually a small flat spring in the handle

Years ago when I worked for Hotpoint their washer dryers had two big dials. The main dial was turned to select the program then pulled to switch on. The other dial was to select the dryer time only, if this was pulled it came off in your hand. My favourite job was walking in, pushing it back on & walking out again! I didn't charge.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.
