Virgin Holidays Balance Payment

Hi,
We are due to travel to Antigua late October.  We booked in store with Virgin Holidays to fly from Gatwick.   We have decided we no longer want to go on our holiday.  Trying to contact Virgin is impossible and our holiday balance is due at the end of this month.   We obviously don't want to pay for a holiday we have no intention of taking.   The exact same holiday for next year has a price increase of £1000 which we can't justify paying on top if an already expensive holiday.   We understand we are more than likely going to lose our deposit which we've accepted.   We paid the deposit by credit card and have made no further payments since the deposit.  Can Virgin automatically take the money from my credit card? Will they eventually contact me because I haven't paid the balance?  Any advice appreciated,  thanks

You need to check the Ts & Cs under which you booked - these will clarify how much you're due to pay them if cancelling (which may be significantly more than the deposit you've paid), as well as any rights they have to take further payments from the card you used.  If you decide to proceed with the cancellation then you may need to resort to snail mail (recorded delivery) if you can't contact them by other means but it's likely to be in your interests to cancel as early as possible rather than letting it drag on, so best not to rely on some sort of timeout from failing to pay....
  • Thanks for reply. We’ve been trying to contact them to cancel but can’t get through to anybody.  We’ve filled in every online form we can find and tried every way we can to get around their phone system to speak to someone.  Am at a loss what to do next.  Like you say if we cancel now it’s just the deposit we lose and not liable for any further payment.
