Custom charges on goods costing under £15

I’ve had a couple of packages today , both ordered and paid for in £sterling but customs labels show the amount in US dollars. It has just occurred to me that many of those I get default automatically to US dollars and if the exchange rate moves It is easy for the calculation to become £15+ rather than £14.98.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. That is exactly what they did with mine. They put $20.01 on it. Cost me a lot more in the long run. Went to sorting office to pick it up and it was closed. Only doing a 7am - 9am opening. Reversed to get out of the street straight into a lampost on a dodgy bend in the road..
So for a £14.98 set of optics, set me back quite a bit of money .. Oh well you cant take it with you ..0
