Chip savings app

I had some extra money in my current account for a week,  to pay a builder.  Chip have taken £200 over the last week, with work etc being really busy I didn't realise.  I tried to withdraw it and they've refused saying that they need further ID. The chatbot is the only method of contacting- was on hold for 2 hours this morning and still no reply.  Has anyone else had this happen? I'm really annoyed as I've withdrawn before and so there's no need for extra ID, it's the same account they took it from.

I bailed out of Chip a while ago.  All fine until you needed to contact someone - I found their staff unknowledgeable and incompetent.

I've just asked to close the account now... they are refusing until I give them more ID. Avoid this shonky excuse for a company 😬

An unusual but lethal combination - people who know what they're not doing!

I turned off the auto-saves, preferred to do it manually, but as my tasty 5% bonus has expired I probably could close my Chip account. Found their support OK actually, but maybe my problems were simple for them to solve ;)
Hanging on a bit to see what their FSCS protected savings are like, but the rates aren't looking tempting.

    This is not investment advice.
Your money may go "down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... I got all tricked up and came up to this thing, lookin' so fire hot, a twenty out of ten..."

Sorry. Typed that at the same time as trying to do a couple of other things.  Corrected to reflect what I actually intended to say!

So... they've now agreed to send me  MY money... it will take a week and I'll lose the tenner bonus that they gave me as a starting carrot. So don't be dragged in by this, you don't get to keep it, it seems! I'm sure they've made some interest out of money, but if I persuade just one person not to join, it will be worth it 😊
