Package holiday accommodation not available

I have recently discovered that our holiday accommodation will no longer be available, we were not informed by the travel company we booked with but by myself when I e-mailed to find out if the resort was still up & running due to the pandemic & how it had been affected.  They apartments have offered us alternative accommodation, however we find that it isn't suitable & not great reviews.  We are currently unable to get in contact with the operator, we can only sent them a message and we are due to go on the 12th August.  Does anyone know how we stand with regards getting a refund?

Is it a significant change? Same resort/area, same dates, same or better class of accom?
Why is it not suitable? You can't reject it purely on the basis of a few negative reviews on TripAdvisor.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Who have you booked with chayleigh?     If you booked a package with a third party then the apartments you originally booked with shouldn't really be offering you alternative accommodation?    Most agents are not getting to people until nearer the time of travel (some only a week away!)   Not ideal and certainly doesn't help stress levels, but because of volume of people, nothing you can really do except wait for them to get to you.

You know you won't be going to your original but who knows what you will be offered?   In meantime check your terms and conditions to see if they reserve the right to swap accommodation like for like?    If they don't you may be able to reject and request a refund.  Keep looking on their website and airline website for more info about your holiday date.   If flights are cancelled, problem solved (hopefully).    Other than that go - enjoy.  You may find you like your new apartments even more?

No point bypassing the travel company and arranging things directly if the constract is with the travel company.
Wait and see what alternate accomodation the travel company provides.
