This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.

Pouring with rain here and set in for the day and tomorrow, will save the washing for Friday as its supposed to be nicer then.

I am only up now as I need to take my car in for its service today I have to leave here at 10 it will take about 40 mins to get there and the service will take a couple of hours so I will be out till about 2 ish, I would rather not go today but needs must it was due in March but cancelled due to lockdown,
Dinner tonight is all done as we had a roast yesterday and I did extra so it will just need heating through so nice and easy.
DD has been onto her solicitor who is working on this new thing to get him out, dd is only asking for her stake back and half of any equity in the house it wont be a lot but she will need it for a deposit on a new house when she is ready, he could easily afford to buy her out but is refusing to have some power over her, more and more is coming out about how he treated her and you honestly would not treat an enemy like that let alone someone you are supposed to love !!
Gers hope you mum is ok and the meds are working xx
Nels sending love to you xx
 Have good days all xx14

Morning folks.BELLA - hope the delivery goes well for your Mum.REDRUBY - my fingers are crossed for your DD and her legal moves.I had a strange day yesterday. The new dressing gown on order from M&S, due on Thursday arrived so I got myself sorted and went off to collect it and then deliver it to the hospital. There's a group of young NHS volunteers who spend their days delivering the bags of stuff from relatives / friends to patients and collect the outward bound stuff too. One chap ev3n brought a bag out to me in the car park. Brilliant work. I dropped off a box of biscuits for them as a thank you. 😇No word from DM all day. I was told that she sleeps a lot, has a temperature and is on two different lots of ABs. Then, late last night my neighbour phoned to say that DM had rung her to say that the ward nurse wanted to talk to me but couldn't reach me! Most odd all round. Turns out that they only wanted to update me so no need to panic. Still, I lay awake for a long time last night. 😞There's nothing on my agenda for today. It may well be sleep.Happy Wednesday to everyone.14

Morning folks and thanks RUBY. I'm so sorry that yesterday didn't work out for DD. I hope the different plan works out and she gets what she is entitled to. What an obnoxious chap he sounds. It's no wonder you can't sleep with all your worries at the moment.
We have had overnight rain but now it's just drab and miserable. The rain is due back tonight. The roofer came as promised yesterday to survey the leaking guttering. Fortunately it was raining at the time so he could see the problem. I had convinced myself I would have the expense of complete new guttering but not so. The waterfall at the front is due to a couple of tiles slipping into the guttering and blocking it. The overflow at the back corner is due to the guttering dropping. Both fixable fortunately. It's all expense at the minute, the plumber is due back with the parts later to fix the non-flushing loo!
The usual same old same old today. Pottering and odd jobs if I cba. (I probably won't be!) Have a good day folks if you can folks. BELLA I hope the noise isn't too bad today and DD can sleep. GERS thinking of you and hoping DM responding to treatment. Take care folks and stay safe x

            Morning
Rubes I am so sad your DD is having to going through so much to get back what is rightly hers. All those expletives we have used about him which would get us banned on here are so apt now ( I have a few more now too ) Do call the doctor though sleep is so important for your recovery. Take care lovely ...this will pass xx ) Do call the doctor though sleep is so important for your recovery. Take care lovely ...this will pass xx
Gers Hope both you and mum are doing OK today
Nothing much to report again here. Terrorist came on Mon with a trainee and properly put me through my paces including football and a step class. Next appointment in 3 weeks Anything is better than nothing though. Anything is better than nothing though.
Had an interview to "work" for the stroke association (voluntary of course) then this morning I have a 2 hour webinar on what's it like to have a stoke .....mmmm can't wait for that. All this to do basically what I have been doing for years with age UK.
Weather pretty miserable but its a good excuse to stay in and be a netflix critic
 Hope everyone is well13

Good morning, thank you for starting today's thread RedRuby.
Rain most of yesterday, rain overnight, rain when I got up. It has stopped now but tge forecast is for more and heavier rain so I don't think I'll be doing anything outdoors. So far, I've done some washing, cleaned the kitchen floor and the surfaces. I think I've peaked for the day.
Ruby I hope there is a reasonably quick resolution for your daughter, the uncertainty must be such a worry.
Gers, hope your mum starts to feel better soon.
I am still in my pjs, am off for a shower and to get dressed. Hope everyone has a good day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back14

Two nights of not sleeping well has left me feeling like a rung out dishcloth! One night awake for three hours and the next night two hours. I can cope with anything apart from lack of sleep, I am one of those people who need a good eight hours or I cannot function properly! Last night was better and managed seven hours... DH first day back at work today since being furloughed in mid March, boy has he found it hard getting ready this morning 😬. We ventured out yesterday to a lovely riverside pub for a late lunch, it was very well organised with pre booking, disposable menu’s, tables well spaced out and a one way system around the pub. Eating out is the thing that I have missed most about lockdown and although it is not the same as previously it was lovely to have a meal cooked and served to us. Will catch up with a few chores today, need to clean out the fridge which being a large side by side one usually takes me a couple of hours! Will find out what needs using up and think of something for dinner. Take care all. 46,484 > 0(January)

            Morning all.
Hope I have better luck with posting today. Yesterday I lost 2 posts through no fault of my own. Wrote a brief third one and instead of clicking on 'post' clicked on Forum Home. Stupid! After that I lost the will to live, so went off to the hospital for a blood test instead.
RR, it's no wonder you can't sleep with everything you have on your mind. The trouble with not sleeping is that the worse it gets, the worse it gets, iyswim. The only thing I can suggest is trying to stay awake, that often works for me. As for your DD's ex, words fail me, and that doesn't happen often. Everything crossed that the turd will get what he deserves.
Gers, you sleep away pet. It sounds as though your DM is being well looked after and you can't do much more for her than you are already doing. You are being a brilliant daughter.
TA, miserable here too. I survey the chaos that is my house and know that this is the ideal day to get stuck in to straightening it up. Curses! I can think of a million more enticing ways to spend my time. I will try to potter with a bit more energy than usual.
Nelski, what would we do without officialdom trying to teach their grandmothers how to suck eggs. You could always offer to teach them what it is like to have a stroke.
ADO, go and sit down. You have already done a day's work!
Millicent, good luck with the fridge cleaning. Just think that when you have finished you will have the joy of seeing how good it looks every time to open it. You will also have the false pleasure of swearing that you will keep it like that and never have to clear it out again. Never works, does it?
OK. Off to move things from one place to another.
 THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Never miss an opportunity to shut up. (Will Rogers) I really must try to remember this.

Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.15

Hello all, it's a damp old day here.Yesterday was lovely with Dad and DD here for lunch. We stayed on the patio and the food was delicious, the company great and we were all in good spirits, even Dad. It stayed dry but was a bit on the chilly side, even under Mr Fix It's tarpaulin top and side wall. Dad was wrapped in a fleece blanket and DD had to borrow my winter slipper boots as she had only arrived in her sandals. Luckily the rain held off til teatime, but then didn't stop all night, now it's still drizzling. Dad went home happy with a new haircut but minus most of his curls, a large portion of leftover chips, some trifle and 4 baking potatoes ! Sounds like items on the Generation game conveyor belt I think he also enjoyed seeing 4 different walls.I too had very little sleep last night, could have done a night shift somewhere I suppose, at least it would have been productive. I even watched and old episode of the Bill and one of London's Burning I think he also enjoyed seeing 4 different walls.I too had very little sleep last night, could have done a night shift somewhere I suppose, at least it would have been productive. Morning All
I was up and at 'em this morning, bathrooms cleaned, allotment visited (2 more courgettes, 6 french beans), duster thrown about, hoovered and mopped and washing on the line. I've also made lunch for myself, DD and little Sophie (veggie pasta). Thought it was time for a coffee.
RR, sorry it wasn't straightforward for your DD but good she could be steered in the right direction, good luck to her, she'll be one strong young lady after all this.
Gers, hope you get some more info soon, those volunteers need a medal.
I defrosted the freezer yesterday, no nasty surprises and no stray peas (there always seem to be peas in there on the loose). All clean and tidy now but I seem to have lost my big freezer bag, DD and DS1 say they haven't got it but I'm not so sure!
Have a good day everyone, take care. XX
