New job just before lockdown, not furloughed, Laid off - new employer now advertising for staff

Hi
i wondered what I should do. I started a new job just before lockdown and received training along with other new staff,
we didn’t qualify for furlough and were paid off. Now the employer is advertising for new staff for all roles and hasn’t contacted anyone that they laid off. I guess they have no obligation to contact the staff they laid off to see if they want to be rehired

Apply for one of the jobs advertised would probably be the best course of action. You already have the required training so you are able to start straight away and there is no training cost either.joedog said:i wondered what I should do.0 -
It makes me and the other laid off employees feel like they clearly aren’t interested in any of us

I know its hard and to not have any "ill feelings" but it's much more likely that it's purely business and NOT personal0

Maybe they are not, maybe they presumed you would not be interested, maybe as it was four months ago and a lot has changed over the last few months they have just not thought about it. It could be an entirely different person advertising the jobs, a different manager etc.joedog said:It makes me and the other laid off employees feel like they clearly aren’t interested in any of us
If you are still unemployed and it was a job you wanted before all this then it would make sense to reapply, the worst they can say is no, the best case scenario is you end up with a paying job doing the thing you wanted to do before lockdown.0 -
The employer has no obligation to contact you, or may be embarrassed to.
Why don't you contact them?0 -
They might be trying to pay less now.
It could also be spoof and non genuine advertising or just intent to capture CV's with no real recruitment going on.
I'm well aware of a company receiving at least 145 CV's through a very well known job board only to see job re-advertised on another less then totally considered professional social media platform literally only weeks later.
I agree you just need to say remember me? you have nothing to lose.

If you want the job get in touch with them.

Doesn't sound if you are particularly motivated. Your ex employer has potentially a bigger pool to fish in.joedog said:It makes me and the other laid off employees feel like they clearly aren’t interested in any of us0
