I have a  7 nigh holiday booked to Sunny Beach all inclusive booked last summer. At present Bulgaria is not on the air bridge list and Bulgaria itself still requires visitors to quarantine for 14 days on arrival.

Jet2 are refusing to give me any updates or even countenance a cancellation until the day before I'm due to fly out.  They keep responding to my requests for further information as follows

Thank you for your patience, i have looked into this for you and at this moment i can not give you your full options as we do not have an official statement however keep checking your emails for further updates and your options that will be available to you.

What can i do?  All suggestions appreciated.  I don't see how they can expect me to wait till the night before the flight to know what's happening.

Jet2 are not accepting any bookings from any UK Airport to Sunny Beach on 20th July.
    Try it.
I suspect your cancellation email is imminent.

Your choice but Jet2 have proved to be one of the best travel companies to deal with during this pandemic.

Indeed, other package holidays with other operators have been cancelled with similar or less notice, in a situation with different countries having different entry rules, different countries having different entry rules on return to the UK, and some villas/hotels deciding to have delayed or no opening at all, it must be a logistical nightmare to deal with. OP needs to cut them a bit of slack.

Thanks for the opinion, but if they are one of the better ones I'd hate to have booked with one of the worst.  I may be expecting a lot but it's more than 3 months since this has been going on, they should have got their processes in place by now.  I feel sorry for their call centre staff who seem just to have a number of 'holding' messages which all amount to we don't know and no there's nobody else you can talk to.

This may have  been going on for three months but the situation has been changing regularly both with our own UK guidance and that of other countries within that time.
Your expectations are unrealistic with things as they are at present.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Yes, you really would have hated to have booked with any of the 'worst' companies.
Take a read of the many threads about LoveHolidays, OntheBeach etc and even TUI.
It may revise your opinion of Jet2.

You have been in contact with Jet2.
Some of the online operators - including the first 2 I've mentioned have blocked all methods of communication.
OntheBeach are not accepting any phone calls.
LoveHolidays apparently have a message on their website that they are not even accepting post.
TUI have one single number for people to contact them on - no email, no live chat.

  • Easyjet only cancelled our package holiday 5 days before departure, despite the fact our hotel had closed back in March until December they were still
insisting we would be going as planned. I can’t really see what Jet2 have done wrong to be honest.
