i have an amazon MasterCard. I mainly use Amex but this is my second choice because whilst the rewards aren’t high I can definitely use them.
occassionally I have issues with acceptance.
one company is auto-aid breakdown. Over the phone they said they don’t accept US cards, I checked and it’s not US but it’s not accepted.
yesterday I had another issue with no explanation from either the retailer or new day.

can anyone throw any light on new day sometimes not being accepted when other mastercards work?

Not sure what you mean here, both transactions were online and tried multiple times (very carefully)
most of the card details are stored (not typed) so pretty sure we can rule out typos.

yes their explanation was not satisfactory but I’m certain the card wouldn’t work and new day said no blocks either time.

For whatever reason the retailer’s online payment system must be flagging this has an American BIN number. All online systems workout what type of card it is and where it was issued from the BIN. Sometimes BIN numbers are logged incorrectly by the card schemes or are recycled. For example I remember when they first launched Starling debit cards were treated as credit cards by most online payment systems because the BIN number was catergorised as such by MasterCard. It meant you could not use Starling debit card on PayPal for quite some time until the issue was sorted.
