Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP., it can cause the scammer extra costs and work, and in some cases, cancellation.
Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, and an independent appeals service will be set up,
Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Plenty have had a PCN cancelled by Morrisons , hundreds of people
Try for a manager cancellation at the store , if that fails complain by email to their CEO , David Potts
There are email details by previous victims on this forum , Search for them and do the same
Do not reveal who was driving to anyone , use the word WE , not I
Read the newbies FAQ sticky thread near the top of the forum , appeal within 28 days as keeper using the blue text template if Morrisons haven't cancelled it , don't miss appealing , no explanations , no alterations to that blue text template , no blabbing

Take any receipts for the day with you. Previous transactions at M's shown on bank/cc statements will help too as will (if you have one) your M's 'More' loyalty card. Take as much as you can to indicate regular, loyal patronage. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Complain to the retailer and also appeal to ECP telling them what happened (NOT using the forum template) and also tell them you told Morrisons staff on the day but were not offered for your car to be added to the 'white list' (why not, one wonders?). Your car should have been whitelisted under the circumstances as a 'authorised visitor/exempt from PCNs' that day.
The most likely people to cancel this are Morrisons or the Managing Agents (MA) who run the retail park if it's a multi-store place. Find out who that agent is, if Ms say they can't cancel it, ask them who the MA is and for an email address, or push for Morrisons to send that email asking for cancellation to the MA.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

It won't help you this time OP, but I had a similar problem a year or so ago in a Tesco car park.
Having done my shopping, I returned to my car which wouldn't start. I knew it would be several hours before I could get help, so I asked Customer Services in the store what I should do.
They typed my reg. no. into a terminal on their desk and announced "You now have permission to leave your car on the car park for up to 24 hours. Come back and see me if that is not enough time".
