O/S Daily Tuesday 7 July 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Bright start with sun breaking through the clouds this morning. - rain forecast later though. Got a line of washing line dried.
DH watching catchup tv, DS1 gone to work, I'm enjoying first cuppa whilst on here this morning, and DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was LO pork, sausages, new potatoes, HG green beans, broc, yorkshires and gravy. Tonight is likely to be fish - we're having a ride out to where there is a fresh fish shack - love this place it's right on the coast.
It's nice having some chilled time at home - although after 2 weeks I'll be more than ready to go back to work!
Keep safe and well x

Good morning folks. Thanks for starting us off NMLC.
Today should be quieter than yesterday. I had another round of collecting stuff and then delivering some to DM. Just as I pulled up at the hospital she sent me a text asking for five other things - a new dressing gown amongst the list as hers had got badly torn. 😱 No idea how. Anyway, couldn't find one easily so just bought a long night-shirt as a temporary substitute. Now I've ordered one from M&S.DM really enjoyed the letters from her crossword friend and me. Then she got busy doing one of the crosswords. I don't really know how she is, this new ward has got staff who don't seem as keen on passing on info as the previous one. I was quite shocked to be told that DM was 'responding well to the antibiotics'. Turns out she has an UTI. 😱 Perhaps I'll get a different person today who can give me clearer information.Plans for today include going for a walk.I hope that everyone is doing OK. Happy Tuesday to all.12 -

Morning All
Back to showery weather this morning, it was lovely to have the sunshine yesterday. Washing was all dried outside and put away (a job I'm not good at!).
I went for a walk with my friend to the farmer's market, only 3 stalls as it had been cancelled from Sunday but lovely to see so many people out and about, especially the children at the playpark. We walked along the river, really busy with walkers and cyclists. My friend walks really fast so my legs were aching by the time we got back!
The allotment gave me 2 more courgettes and some french beans, they were lovely in a stir fry last night.
Hope you get some more information soon Gers, communication needs to be spot on when you can't visit.
Pleased to hear you had a good time with your sister dumpling.
How are you monna?
Hoping everything went well for your DD Ruby.
Not a lot planned for today, no shopping needed so probably just a walk.
Take care and enjoy Tuesday. Take care. XX13 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. GERS sympathy re the lack of information. When you can't visit the least they can do is keep you informed of the current position. REDRUBY I hope yesterday wasn't too traumatic for your DD. You wonder how the toxic ex managed to keep this side of his character hidden from her when they first met.
I feel more respectable this morning after my hair cut yesterday. There was so much hair on the floor I was worried she had scalped me! After no-one in the house for over 3 months I ended up with 2 people in yesterday! Hairdresser and then the plumber who had responded quite quickly to my request to look at my broken push button on the loo! He is coming back Wednesday with the necessary parts. He looked aghast at the job Super Mario (remember him from last year?) had made of it! He seems much more competent thank goodness! (He lives next door to a friend of DS and comes recommended)
The wm has just finished doing its job and I am undecided whether to peg it out or not. It's fine at the moment but yet more rain is forecast. Where's it all coming from!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all who need them. Take care one and all xx

Hi everyone, I hope you are all as well as can be expected. I had a very lazy day yesterday, apart from going for a walk in the lovely evening sunshine I did very little. We had scrambled eggs on toast for dinner as we didn't feel obliged to cook anything. We had steak and chips on Saturday and Laura realised that it was the first time in 4 weeks that we had repeated an evening meal!
She sent me a photo and video yesterday. of Esben in his cot. She's left him for a few seconds and when she got back he was standing up, he repeated the feat for the video, he was very proud of himself. Laura walked at exactly 10 months and it wuldn't surprise me if he was an early walker as well.
We're going up to the Yorkshire house on Friday for the first time since lockdown began. We're taking the campervan to be serviced on the way and will pick it up on the way back. We will probably then go away for a weekend to see how we will cope without using a site's facilities. We are fully self sufficient but haven't previously used the shower in the van because of the hassle.

Morning folks. Bright here but showers forecast.DH has gone out for first dog walk of the day. I’ve been doing it during working from home and really enjoyed it too - I seem to have hit a sleepier patch though. I slept soundly last night and think difficulty sleeping was caused by tv near bedtime. It’s not something I usually do but recently got into the habit.Love the sound of the fish stall nmlc. I grew up by the sea and the furthest inland I have lived was 9 miles.Tackling spreadsheets is on the agenda today.Easy tea of leftover curry. Will add more greens.DH cracking on with jobs and today is flooring more of the loft then putting shelves into the hall cupboard. I will be able to play shops again and move my tins and dried food supplies.Hope all went well for DD RedRuby yesterday.Take care all x13

Morning all
Nice bright day here I have a load in the wm and will hang it on the line it should dry well
Thank you for all your good wishes for dd yesterday unfortunately it did not go as we had hoped, she was going for an occupancy order which forces him out of the house so she could do it up ready for sale and then hopefully he would then agree to sell it, the judge was really nice and understanding but would not grant it as they both have a right to be in the house and as they have no children together (thank goodness) that he had as much right as she did, and although he agreed that the things he had done to her were awful he said he has not contacted you since Feb so he seems to have calmed down a bit (he is on bail and not allowed near her or he will be re-arrested so that's why no contact) anyway he has advised her on another way forward, (he was really lovely but he said his hands were tied) so we are now back to pursuing them, we got straight onto dd's solicitor who is on the case. Fingers crossed we can finally start to get somewhere as its getting dd down.
Onto today I have taken a bit of brisket out of the freezer for a roast tonight as it was meant to rain today but its now lovely and sunny so we will be swelteringbut it needs eating so will carry on and cook it.
I waiting for a call from the hospital this morning just a chat about how we are going forward.
Nels hope you are ok my lovely ? xx
Have good days all xx13 -
Morning all, it's cloudy today after some lovely warm sunshine yesterday.I scalped the shrub and it has a bit more shape now, then did some weeding. I swept the patio but had a bit of a disaster with my bird house. I moved it to sweep underneath and one of the feet fell off, it seems it was rotten, so it's now broken up and in the bin. We've had it for years but it's a bit like Triggers broom as it's been mended quite a few times. I'll have to get Mr Fix It to make me another one. I blame the B52's for landing on it, they're too heavy, well compared to the little birds. I also lost Mr Fix It's hammer and my secateurs somewhere in the garden and to play hide and seek to find them. The funeral went well yesterday and it was lovely to see a lot of our neighbours turning out on the street to see " Bampi Norman " off on his last journey. Some of them started to clap, but we didn't as we didn't think it was appropriate. Perhaps we're too old school.Today Dad is coming over for the day, the first time since mid March. DD has an extra day off from school so she will come over for lunch too. We are going to have fish and chips from the local chippy restaurant which DD will order by phone this morning, should be good and no cooking for me either. Mr Fix It has set up the tarpaulin over the patio in case it rains, but there is nothing forecast for today, just cloud. Tomorrow is another kettle of fish entirely !This morning I need to empty the DW and put in the dirty breakfast dishes, then later I shall give Dad a much needed haircut.Hope everyone can have a good day.Take care all, stay safe and well.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11

Morning all...Had my meeting with work, upshot is I will no longer be on their books which is both a relief and a bit of a disappointment in that one, I don't have to worry about sending in fit notes and two, I'm not capable of doing my old job, which was quite intense. So I am now one of the great unwashed, or not as in I'm not working. Happy and sad at the same time.I did make mince and tatties yesterday and as expected, there's enough for tonight as well, with the addition of a few more potaoes so I'm slowly getting through the potato mountain. I'm congenitally incapable of making just enough food for two unless it's a salad. More bread making today I think, I have difficulty when it comes to breakfast because toast is so much easier to make than anything else [ I'm not a fan of cold yoghurty things first thing] . I'll mix the seeded stuff with some strong white to see what happens. We are moving the rooms around today after we made big lists yesterday, which mostly involved, pack that thing away, buy more boxes to pack things away etc. I think it's time to start getting winter ready too, so sorting out the old front door is on the list. I need a timetable, so at least I can make some attempt to stick to it or not....Ruby, hope the new way forward works..Nelski, how did the terrorist go yesterday? Nanny, relax and stuff! Enjoy your moment as John Frieda!
Gers, hope you can get more information today, whenever I've had to do that, it slways seems like one hand doesn't know what the other is doing because of the change of shifts all the time. Right well, enjoy your days if you can all, and for me, Termination Tuesday.....

taff I'm so sorry that I had forgotten about your meeting. Head in the shed again
My sincere apologies. Now perhaps you can relax too and enjoy life without sick notes
Good luck with the list and I hope you can get through it, because I've had one of those lists for years and I keep adding more to it than I tick off
Gers I hope today brings more info on your DM.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11
