Have paid for 6 flights + baby and all other costs associated with flights - seats, luggage etc. I have annual travel insurance for myself and wife. All flights and Insurances were in place and paid in full since October 2019. Have contacted airline - Ryanair - no refunds possible, rearrangements/rescheduling possible at a cost of £115 for each flight - not viable. Have contacted Insurance provider who have been some help, in fact the insurers contacted me in March 2020 to reassure me that my insurance cover would be applicable in the event that FCO advice not to travel was issued, Insures have advised that cover is limited to myself and wife, can claim for our two flights minus excesses (£50 each) lots of evidence/paper requested. Now as I was responsible for all the costs of the flights, I am keen to test the insurers who insist that only two flights are covered. I paid for all flights with my Credit card in full, looking for some way to try and obtain some refund for all 6 flights (approx £1000) + baby (£50). What can I do?

Thanks for replying Caz, one of my children has travel insurance, don't know if his insurers have been forthcoming since March 2020, due to Fly today. I have asked him to enquire with his provider, his annual insurance was in place ( mid July 2019) i before the outbreak. Cheers.

Your travel insurance only covers those named in the policy, in this instance yourself and your wife.

Anyone else travelling in your group should have purchased their own insurance and accordingly claim separately on those policies.

What he said. You purchased insurance for only 2 people: yourself and your wife. How do you possibly think that extends to cover 5 other people too, just because you are travelling together? The fact that you paid for all the tickets is immaterial: the other members of your family are not insured. Credit card provider will not help you here either as you are able to travel and the flights are operating. FCO advice is just that: advisory
    There is nothing to 'test'.
Your son may be able to claim on his own insurance, depending on the terms of his policy and whether he's covered based on the FCO advisory.
