My car is insured with Abbey since February. Then it would have cost me an extra £100 to include my son on policy. I left it until now to include him and they are now charging me £251. How?. There is only 7 months left. The £100 was for 12 months!!

What did they say when you asked them?0

If you refer to the terms and conditions for amending the policy you will discover a multitude of additional charges that can be incurred when doing so mid term.
Abbey will have to refer back to the company actually providing the cover and charge you for just doing that and then reissuing a revised policy. The company providing the cover will charge for recalculating the cover as well as the actual price increase.
You should always avoid mid term policy changes wherever possible as even a change of address could cost you dearly. Some reputable companies will make certain changes at no cost to you but for the majority their profit margins are slim and you end up paying for any additional work.0
