I assume that you are young and don't know how these thing work, get upset before you know what is happening. The council will not rent you a house with an outside toilet. You will have some things sorted before you move in, possibly get a grant to decorate.Pinkxxxx said:Hya I'm so upset, And I carnt believe the only toilet is in the outbuildings. I really wanted my own house and finally stop private renting but this is awful.

OPs other thread and just in case the content gets deleted:
"Hya,
Just looking for some advice.
Currently we private rent a beautiful 4 bed house we have been here for 4 years and love the place.
However due to covid my husband has been made redundant and we are living off his redundancy. I have recently been made disabled due to a accident and can no longer work.
We have been offered a council house but our entitlement is only a 3 bed it's in a lovely area not on a estate but its tiny compared to our house we are in. The decor is awful bright purple artex and a bathroom downstairs.
My daughter is 21 and hates the thought of moving into it and is in tears all of the time. It breaks my heart seeing her unhappy. I also have 2 other boys.
What are everyone's thoughts will we be making a big mistake giving up our home to move into the council house."

Old enough to have a 21 year old daughter, so at the very least in their mid/late 30’s!!ElephantBoy57 said:

So the downstairs bathroom lacks a toilet then?No free lunch, and no free laptop

Probably a downstairs bathroom and an outside toilet as well (lots of older council houses had outside toilets, as well as internal ones). Unhappy not to have an en suite?

I am confused what the OP's question is in the two threads started this evening.
A council house has been offered, but it needs decorating because the purple is awful. Like the rest of the population if you buy a house it needs decorating to your own taste too.
If you've been offered a council house - well they are as rare as hen's teeth to be honest. I think where I live, if you put yourself on the waiting list at birth, your grand children might just get to the top of the queue in their 80's.1 -
Yes you love your current house but it is privately rented and no longer suitable/affordable.
Anywhere you live would need periodic redecoration which you as a family should be able to do.
The council will make it liveable at an affordable rent with security for life.
It still amazes me that they do not reassess families needs when children grow up and move out or charge extra when you can have four or more working adults living in a property.
Be grateful that you have sufficient space and security of tenure to make this into your family home for life/0 -
The first thread is from 8 June, though I'm not sure why the OP has started a new almost identical one a month later.Grumpy_chap said:I am confused what the OP's question is in the two threads started this evening.1 -
